The cost of rooms at all hotels in State College vary depending on special University events that take place throughout the year. Participants are responsible for making their own housing arrangements. It is not the intent of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Biotechnology Outreach Programs, or Penn State University to endorse or recommend any particular housing accommodations based upon quality or service. A block of rooms is available at the Atherton Hotel for participants of the Biotechnology Training Programs. Hotel is located at the edge of campus. A hotel brochure is included in the participant packet
you will receive after registering for a workshop.The
Atherton holds rooms for the participants of the Biotechnology Training
Programs at a reduced single occupancy rate. To qualify for a room at
this rate you must book the room more than 30 days prior to the course
start date. This special rate cannot be guaranteed less than 30 days prior
to the course start date. Be sure to mention the name of the training
program which you will attend when making reservations to secure
this rate. Many participants
find that the close proximity of this hotel to campus, downtown restaurants
and shopping is convenient. Parking is currently available in a lot next to the training location. Parking permits for parking on campus are available upon request by contacting the Program Assistant, Nancy Wilson (e-mail: njw12@psu.edu). It has been our experience that due to the small class size of the programs, participants enjoy the convenience of having accommodations at the same hotel. Room blocks at the one hotel allow the participants the opportunity to socialize beyond class time and we encourage using the room blocks when making your reservation.
